In the southern United States, black-eyed peas are considered as the symbol of good luck; hence people of the southern United States make black-eyed peas every year in the beginning. Generally, black-eyed peas can be made by many methods, but in this article, we will discuss the best method step by step.
Step: 1: Soak the black eyed peas
Initially, take the black-eyed peas and put them in a bowl for soak purposes. Once the black-eyed peas would be soaked, then rinsed them with cold water. This process eliminates all dirt from black-eyed peas.
Step: 2: Place black eyed peas in pot filled with cold water
Once you eliminate all the dirt, then put the black-eyed peas into the bowl filled with water. Remember, the quantity of water depends upon the quantity of black-eyed peas. The water should be 1 inch ahead of the black-eyed peas.
Step: 3: Boil the water
Take the pot and put it over the boiler at medium level heat for at least 2-3 minutes. Black-eyed peas, unlike other beans, can be soaked in hot water rather than cold water to reduce the cooking period. However, you can quit this step if you are in a hurry. This step also eliminates all the risks which can gas gastro problem.
Step: 4: Be patience for 1-2 hour
After putting the bowl upon the boiler, wait for 1-2 hours so that the black-eyed peas can be softened properly.
Step: 5: Filter the black eyed peas and rinse again
Take off the lid from the bowl and filter the black-eyed peas. After doing it, rinse the black-eyed peas, again to eliminate dust, and useless particles and finally black-eyed peas are ready.
